Thornton Osteopathic Clinic Covid-19 Update

We remain open to help you

The practice re-opened for appointments in mid June 2020. Initially we were running a very reduced appointment time table, but we have been able to gradually increase this and remained open over the November 2020 lockdown.

Implemented Changes

You will notice that we have made several adaptions to make the practice easier to sanitise for your and our own health and safety.

We have replaced fabric chairs with plastic ones and have replaced the flooring to vinyl, making it easier to wipe down and clean.

Toilet facilities are available, but we recommend that if possible you limit usage. The bathroom will be sanitised after each use.

All bed linen has been removed from the treatment couch, pillows and pillow slips are now waterproof to enable sanitising down in between each patient.

Touchable surfaces (including door handles, treatment tables, chairs, stationary and medical equipment) are disinfected after every patient.

We have spaced appointment times out to allow for sanitisation and aeration in between patients and to allow for social distancing.

PPE

We will be wearing PPE (personal protective equipment) including face mask, plastic apron and plastic gloves to carry out your treatment.

Extensive hand washing before and after putting on the PPE

We ask that you please wear a face covering when entering the building and during your treatment.

Before You Visit

The day before your appointment we will phone you to ask a few ‘pre screen covid questions’ and when you arrive we will take your temperature. You will also be asked to either gel or wash your hands on arrival and on exiting.

We have put these changes in place to make the practice a safer and hopefully welcoming environment.

All the measures we have put in place have been made from guidance from our governing body (General Osteopathic Council) and professional institution (Institute of Osteopathy) as well as Public Health England. We will update our information as the situation changes.

It is lovely to be back and we hope to welcome you again soon.
Sarah Wheildon.

What is osteopathy?

Osteopathy treats the body and person as a whole so the patient is assessed from a mechanical, functional and postural aspect in order to help restore this balance.

For this reason, your osteopath will probably need to look at the whole spine and limbs in order to see how they can have an affect on the presenting problem.
